Pescadería, 2 - Parte Vieja (Old Town)

A small, traditional bar located in the centre of the old town, just on the entrance to the Consti (Constitution Square/Plaza de la Constitución), cheerfully run by twin brothers.

The winning pintxo here is “Txampis Tamboril” – a skewer of mushrooms with their savoury poaching liquor, rich with olive oil, soaking into a chunk of bread.

Also try “Pimiento relleno de carne” – a pimiento pepper stuffed with minced beef and béchamel, battered and deep fried. Finally, please don’t be afraid by the anchovy tempura – whilst they look like whole fishes, they are actually filleted and stuffed with delicious red peppers!
