Haizea

Aldamar, 8 - Parte Vieja (Old Town)

Although it is only a few paces away from the hustle and bustle of the maze of streets at the heart of the Old Town, very few tourists seem to make it as far as Bar Haizea. Maybe the locals are keeping this one a secret.

Definitely one of those places where you should not judge the book by its cover, it is simple and unpretentious with a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The menu modestly reveals some really tasty pintxos, many of which you don’t see elsewhere. They seem so traditional and authentic that it is difficult to believe that they are unique to Haizea.

Look out for the cod and prawn fritters (buñuelos de bacalao y gamba) and the langoustine with a seafood sauce (langostino con crema de marisco).
